Deep Drawing Process Guide — High Depth-to-Diameter Ratio Forming

Deep drawing is a stamping process that progressively draws metal sheet into cylindrical or box-shaped parts through dies. Fineforming achieves multi-stage deep drawing in progressive dies, excelling at forming complex geometries with high depth-to-diameter ratios.

Equipment & Capabilities

Our press equipment covers a tonnage range from 25T to 800T, including brands such as ASAHI-SEIKI, AIDA, KOMATSU, and CHIN-FONG precision presses. Processable material thickness ranges from 0.10–8.00mm, suitable for cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, copper alloy, and high-strength steel.

Process Characteristics

  • Multi-stage continuous forming in progressive dies, completed within a single die
  • High depth-to-diameter ratio housings formed without secondary machining on critical functional surfaces
  • Real-time SPC process monitoring
  • Applicable to airbag housings, sensor housings, flow meter housings, etc.

Deep drawing places extremely high demands on die design, material flow control, and lubrication management. Fineforming maintains 100% in-house die design and manufacturing capabilities, ensuring full-process quality control from engineering development to mass production delivery.
